2020-10-10: More Stuff and a Bear

PROJECT FOCUS: Whystic Lodge in Altspace

The lodge needs more ... stuff. I was thinking about finding a nice dog or cat on google poly or sketchfab. I haven't done a lot of organic modelling, so attempting this on my own would have taken more time than what it was worth. I did a lot of searching for this, and I really couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I want a sleeping dog or cat, because I felt that even a sitting one would look more like a statue. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, which is certainly a peril when you are trolling around for free models instead of making them yourself.

But I did occasionally see other animals. I came across ducks, deer, goats (i love goats, but they're not easy to inside train :) ), birds, bees, and even an ardvark which I might use sometime. Salvidor Dali used to walk his pet Aardvark in downtown New York.

And I also noticed bears. And this got me to thinking about the look of taxidermy. I do want to have a full room devoted to low poly taxidermy, but a standing bear, reminiscent of the Adams' Family living room, seems right in this welcome hall. So off I was looking for standing bears. And I found a nice low poly one by Sailor96. It wasn't textured or UV mapped, so I hastily did this (I can do better ... and one day I will). But I do like the effect of it.

It fits perfectly under a balcony. I sized him to be the size of the largest grisley bear known at 3.81 meters in height. I can't help somehow be reminded of the movie Brave. Castle halls and bears...
